Conceptual model

(TB) (FR : Modèle conceptuel)

Abstract and schematic representation of a field of knowledge or activity to better understand it in the context of a specific application. Modeling makes sure that everyone is talking about the same things and considering the same ways of solving the same problems when building databases. It also makes it possible to relate heterogeneous databases, by means of a reference to a common conceptual model. Thus, a conceptual model of the entity-relationship type is based on entities (classes or categories of abstract objects), the relationships between these entities and the properties characterizing these entities.
