Indexation

(Cataloging) (FR : Indexation)
Indexing consists of assigning a document a distinctive mark providing information about its content and allowing it to be found. It results in the search for a numeric or nominal symbol from the analysis of the content of the document. This symbol can be: 1) taken from a classification (index). This is called systematic indexation; 2) consisting of one or more keywords. This is referred to as analytical indexing or subject alphabetical indexing.
